Bosch dishwasher E14 error code

Flow-meter filling fault (water fill not being counted). E14 on a Bosch dishwasher is listed in BSH service data as a filling fault: the control receives no pulses from the flow sensor while the heat-pump circuit already detects water in the tub. The dishwasher switches from pulse-counted filling to timed filling, so many cycles still finish but fill by time instead of by volume. The remedy Bosch gives is to check the wire harness and plugs and to test the flow sensor, a reed switch on the water inlet system.

SAFE CHECKS — IN ORDER

How to diagnose Bosch E14 yourself

Walk these checks in order before scheduling service. They isolate the most common causes safely without requiring tools or part replacements.

6 steps
  1. 1Read the display first. On a Bosch dishwasher the code shows as E:14 with the far-right indicator LED lit. On a Bosch wall oven or range the same two digits mean a loose door-latch switch, which is a different fault with different checks.
  2. 2Power-cycle the dishwasher: switch it off at the breaker or unplug it for 60 seconds, then start a short programme and note whether E:14 comes back and whether it appears during the fill.
  3. 3Check whether the cycle still completes. BSH files E:14 on many models as a switch to timed filling with no effect on the wash, and on other models as a programme that stops and drains. A dishwasher that still washes but shows E:14 is running on timed fill.
  4. 4Open the water supply valve under the sink fully and check that the inlet hose is not kinked or pinched. The flow meter can only count water that arrives, and a partly closed valve is the one supply-side check you can do yourself.
  5. 5Do not remove the base or side panels to reach the flow sensor. The reed switch and its harness sit beside the inlet valve and the mains wiring, and the Bosch check is a continuity test on the harness followed by a test of the sensor itself.
  6. 6If E:15 shows as well, deal with E:15 first. That code means the safety switch in the base pan has found water, and it takes priority over a fill-counting fault.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does the E14 error code mean on a Bosch dishwasher?

E14 on a Bosch dishwasher is listed in BSH service data as a filling fault: the control receives no pulses from the flow sensor while the heat-pump circuit already detects water in the tub. The dishwasher switches from pulse-counted filling to timed filling, so many cycles still finish but fill by time instead of by volume. The remedy Bosch gives is to check the wire harness and plugs and to test the flow sensor, a reed switch on the water inlet system.

Can I clear the E14 code myself?

In many cases yes — start with the safe checks listed above before resetting the appliance. Call for service if E:14 returns after a power cycle, if the dishwasher no longer fills, or if it stops and drains part-way through a cycle. The repair is a harness check plus a flow-sensor test, and on US models a faulty flow meter means replacing the water inlet system, so it is a service visit.

How much does it cost to fix a Bosch dishwasher showing E14?

Most Bosch dishwasher repairs in South Florida run between $150 and $400 including parts. The exact cost depends on which component is faulty. Express Xpert provides a written flat-rate quote before any work starts.
